Cultural Observations of an Amherst native during a visit to Truro

(Had to take a school bus to Truro for repairs recently. Was inspired to poetry watching a fellow order his coffee at the Tim Horton's.)

A 1/4 tonne Cherub is perched against

the Tim Horton's coffee counter.

Gristled chin rests on crossed wrists

as his eyes roam

the maidens

concocting his double double.

His back arches in,

pushing his belly against the glass

and then out

to a rump

that wiggles

slowly on legs that cross at the ankles.

Grace abounds.

A casual satisfaction in

the voluptuousity of his own figure

It's just that in Truro,

cherubs are carved from

weathered polyester.
